geo/SDFJulia2D
Creates a Julia set as a 2D SDF in the XY plane.
Sdf Primitives
Creates a filled Julia set as a 2D SDF field in the XY plane: the points that never fly off when repeatedly squared and added to the fixed point c. Each c gives a different set: points of c inside the Mandelbrot set give one connected shape, points outside it scattered dust, and points near its edge the most intricate spirals. A higher power gives more-fold symmetry. Zoom in by raising scale and moving center to the spot you want at the node's position. Compose it with other 2D SDF objects through geo/SDFBoolean, then turn it into a 3D field with geo/SDFExtrude or geo/SDFRevolve, or into real geometry with geo/SDFTriangulate. The distance is an estimate, so the raymarcher takes shorter steps around it.
Parameters
| Name | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| t | Vector2 | Where the center point lands, in plane coordinates (x is world X, y is world Y). |
| scale | Float | World size of one unit of the complex plane. The set is at most 4 units wide, so raise this to zoom in. |
| center | Vector2 | The point of the complex plane placed at t: x is the real part, y the imaginary part. Move it to pick what a zoom looks at. |
| c | Vector2 | The fixed point added at each step: x is the real part, y the imaginary part. Small moves reshape the whole set, so animate it for a morphing shape. |
| power | UInt8 | Exponent of the iteration. 2 is the classic set, and each step up adds one more fold of symmetry. |
| iterations | UInt8 | How many steps each point is followed for. More steps sharpen the fine filaments and cost more per sample; deep zooms need more. |
