geo/SDFKaleidoscopicIFS
Creates an SDF kaleidoscopic IFS fractal.
Sdf Primitives
Creates a kaleidoscopic fractal as SDF geometry: space is folded by the mirrors of a regular solid, as in a kaleidoscope, then scaled away from one point, over and over. With the defaults it is a Sierpinski tetrahedron; the octahedral and icosahedral symmetries give the same idea on those solids, and a small rotation twists every level into more organic shapes. Wire it to the geo/Output node to see it raymarched, or compose it with other SDF objects through geo/SDFBoolean and geo/Transform. Dragging the params never recompiles the preview shader.
Parameters
| Name | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| t | Vector3 | Center of the fractal. |
| size | Float | Radius of the ball the fractal fits inside. |
| symmetry | UInt8 TETRAHEDRAL · OCTAHEDRAL · ICOSAHEDRAL | The regular solid whose mirrors fold space: a tetrahedron, an octahedron (or cube), or an icosahedron (or dodecahedron). |
| scale | Float | How much each level is scaled away from the offset point. 2 halves the copies at each level; larger values leave more space between them. |
| offset | Vector3 | The point each level is scaled away from, as weights on three directions of the symmetry: an edge middle, a corner, and a face middle. The default, all on the corner, gives the Sierpinski shapes; mixing them moves the copies around the solid. |
| rotation | Vector3 | Angles, in degrees around X, then Y, then Z, that every level is turned by. Small values twist the fractal; animate them for a morphing shape. |
| iterations | UInt8 | How many levels of copies are made. Each level multiplies the number of copies and shrinks them. |
