geo/SDFApollonian
Creates an SDF Apollonian gasket fractal.
Sdf Primitives
Creates an Apollonian gasket as SDF geometry: thin curved walls around nested spherical holes, the 3D cousin of the circle packing of the same name. The pattern repeats forever, so it is cut to a ball. Strength changes how the holes nest, and is the param to animate. Wire it to the geo/Output node to see it raymarched, or compose it with other SDF objects through geo/SDFBoolean and geo/Transform. Dragging the params never recompiles the preview shader. The distance is an estimate, so the raymarcher takes shorter steps around it.
Parameters
| Name | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| t | Vector3 | Center of the ball the gasket is cut to. |
| size | Float | World size of one unit of the pattern, which repeats every 2 units. |
| radius | Float | Radius of the ball the gasket is cut to, in pattern units. |
| strength | Float | How strongly each step turns space inside out around a sphere. Around 1.1 to 1.6 gives the familiar nested holes; values away from that thin the pattern out or fill it in. |
| thickness | Float | How thick the walls are, in pattern units. At 0 the walls have no inside and cannot be turned into a mesh; thicker walls fill in the smallest holes first. |
| iterations | UInt8 | How many levels of detail are made. Each level nests smaller holes inside the last. |
