Documentation / Node reference / tex nodes

tex/ImageExporter

Saves the image on its input as a .png or .jpg file.

Files

Press download to write the image that reaches this node to a file. Any tex node can feed it: a photo, a flat color, a filter, a texture built on the GPU, or a render of the scene from a camera. Pictures made on the GPU take a moment to come back from it, so their file appears a frame or two after the press. The image passes through unchanged, so you can place this node anywhere in a chain and keep working downstream. PNG keeps every pixel exactly and keeps transparency. JPG makes much smaller files of photos and renders, loses a little detail, and has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background color you choose. Images with detail beyond white, such as the result of brightening, are clipped to white in the file.

Parameters

Name Type What it does
format UInt8 PNG · JPG The kind of file. PNG keeps every pixel exactly and keeps transparency. JPG makes smaller files, loses a little detail, and has no transparency.
quality SInt32 How much detail a JPG keeps, from 1 to 100. Higher gives a sharper picture and a bigger file. 90 is hard to tell from the original.
bitDepth UInt8 _8 · _16 How finely a PNG stores each color. 8 is what every program shows and is enough for a picture to look at. 16 keeps the smooth gradients of an image made in floating point, for further editing, at twice the file size.
alphaBackground Color The color transparent areas are filled with in a JPG, which cannot store transparency. A half transparent pixel ends up halfway between its own color and this one.
fileNameMode UInt8 NODE_NAME · NODE_PATH · CUSTOM_NAME How the file is named: after this node, after the node's full path in the scene (still unique when exporters in different subnets share a name), or after the name param typed below.
name String File name to write, without the .png or .jpg extension.
download Button Writes the image to the file.
